I am again learning a new way of drawing this ginger cat. I’m following a guidance tutorial by Laleh Kamalian. I really like her style of drawing. She blocks out the sections with the colours and builds each layer up.
Very similar to how she teaches you how to do the skin in a human portrait.

The above photo is what I did yesterday. I have carried on some more this afternoon and finished the head and now I am coming down the back. I have started to not listen to Laleh and do my own thing. Looking at the photo and adding extra colours.


I am certainly getting braver. My head keeps telling me what happens if I go wrong. I keep telling it, you can’t really go massively wrong, just walk away and come back with fresh eyes.
It’s all about looking at your reference photo and going with what you feel is right.
Golly listen to me, 2 years ago I would have said exactly the opposite and not even tried to draw what I see, but follow the teacher to the letter.
