Here is something different for me. I had planned to join Laleh Kamalian live last wednesday for her weekly art club at 6pm but something cropped up and I didn’t make it on time.

I have now caught up and really enjoyed learning how to draw this black and white vase. We are only using 2 colours for this one.

So it is down to gentle pressure especially as we are using Pastlemat (if you press too hard the the grain will bounce back on you, which is soooooo annoying) so you have to work with the grain and use techniques to build up the layers to smooth out the grain, using a dark layer and then a lighter layer with a white pencil and repeat until you have the shade you are looking for.

I’m impressed with what I’ve created. I have done a cat eye in graphite a couple of years ago and loved it.
