On Sunday I had the opportunity to join in with Bonny Snowdon’s live Fox draw along. There were over 2500 live participants on the day. Amazing. It was all free as well. It was all on Youtube. Check out Bonny Snowdon on youtube to find more brilliant video that will help you to also learn the art of coloured pencil.
I don’t normally join in the live draw alongs, because mainly I want to pause or I’m way too tired because they are later in the day. I was so excited to have the chance to draw this adorable fox.

I have to say as always I’m sat close up to the drawing and my head is staying this is awful, stop throw it away, that’s partly because it’s drawn on Pastlemat by Clairefontaine, it is a very grainy surface. I do love working on this surface because the finished drawings are outstanding. But you do have to put the work in. It takes time to build your layers up.
Coloured pencil isn’t the fastest of mediums in art. It definitely teaches you patience. You also have to throw away perfectionism. I learnt that back in 2023.
I have to tell myself it’s all a learning curve, what is the worst that can happen. Nothing really. Just please if you start to learn coloured pencil. Don’t throw any of your work away. Keep it, it will help you realise how your skill improves with practice. It’s something to look back on and to be to be proud of where you’ve come.
The Zebra I drew last year was on Pastlemat and once I drew that drawing I knew then I had the ability to actually draw. Keep following my page and you will see previous drawings I have drawn since July 2022.
